We loved Manteo very much, and after one week staying on the anchor we decided to stay here for awhile. The challenge was to get to other side of the sound and to the Atlantic side beach. So, we bought a car, Volvo S40 2000 for $1100. The car seemed went through a lot of biting, weathered by the severe storms, and quit working right after we bought this beauty. Luckily, we were able to restart it and made it to Manteo. The former owner, Chad from Egypt, kept this car for the seasonal student workers from different countries. He really did not like students from Turkey.
The last words from him were "just drive the car, don't fix it, then sell it back to me".
Anyway, here we are, sailing with the car. We got a new headache - where do we park the car,
preferably for free? We found couple suitable places for parking and Kevin even fixed original problem with thermostat.
Having a car brought a lot of possibilities: we drove to Avon town, where Marina took
kiteboarding lessons, and to Nags Head sound beach for Kevin's practicing kiteboarding, we went to the beautiful beaches along the Outer Banks, and we could get to any store around.
We drove this car to Norfolk airport - Marina's monthly visits for infusion and check up with Dr.Foster.
