New Bern Grand Marina

April 27-May 3 we stayed at the New Bern Grand Marina.  Marina had to go to the infusion to Dr.Foster and to check on the implant with Dentist, Dr. Ofir.

Saturdays - Farmers Market, Laundry, Shopping at Walmart, Food Lion. There are many antique stores in New Bern and at one of them we bought a lure for Kevin to fish, but he lost it at the first fishing attempt!

New Bern and Oriental North Carolina

April 18-24 we finally flew in New Bern, got A-Z shattle services to Oriental to stay at Lucie's The Inn in Oriental.

That early in season there were not many people in the BB, but we really enjoyed Lucie's hospitality and shared stories during
Happy Hours at her BB. Also, there Kevin got a first lesson from another local on how to opearte our drone. They even flew it to our boat (still on the hard) to get a pic.

We had a lot of work done during time while the boat still was in Deaton Yacht Services. The most problematic was to remove the old stalled prop to change cutlass bearing. Luckily, one worker helped us with the advise, and Kevin successfully removed the prop. I was happy to find out that the boat did not stink too much, and not much mold grown inside. We launched the boat on April 23d. And moved in on the boat the next day.

Manteo, Avon, NC

We loved Manteo very much, and after one week staying on the anchor we decided to stay here for awhile.  The challenge was to get to other side of the sound and to the Atlantic side beach. So, we bought a car, Volvo S40 2000 for $1100. The car seemed went through a lot of biting, weathered by the severe storms, and quit working right after we bought this beauty. Luckily, we were able to restart it and made it to Manteo. The former owner, Chad from Egypt, kept this car for the seasonal student workers from different countries. He really did not like students from Turkey.
The last words from him were "just drive the car, don't fix it, then sell it back to me".
Anyway, here we are, sailing with the car. We got a new headache - where do we park the car,
preferably for free? We found couple suitable places for parking and Kevin even fixed original problem with thermostat.

Having a car brought a lot of possibilities: we drove to Avon town, where Marina took
kiteboarding lessons, and to Nags Head sound beach for Kevin's practicing kiteboarding, we went to the beautiful beaches along the Outer Banks, and we could get to any store around.
We drove this car to Norfolk airport - Marina's monthly visits for infusion and check up with Dr.Foster.
